Commentary

Despite its early age (according to the entry in the Annual Report) the inscription already shows the later suffix form -ṇḍu. This personal name (from Sanskrit puṇya-lābha-) seems to be quite uncommon. The element puṇyalābha- and the suffix -nṟu seem to be in a tatpuruaṣa relation (which is comparatively rare) in that the name probably means ’the one who has gain in/from meritorious acts’.
