    1-2 Second [year] of the victorious king Narasiṁhavarman↓1.

    2-4 (Paṟaiyamāḷiyār/Paṉaiyamāriyār), who rules Mēlvēḷūr in the Mīkoṉṟaināṭu, a servant of Vāṇakōṉ Ati⟨ya⟩raicar, fell at the time [one] took the cattle [of] this village.

    Commentary

    Mahalingam 1988: page 692, note 1 notes: "The figure of a soldier facing left with a bow in the left hand and a stagger in the right hand is engraved on the stone. Above the right hand is seen a festoon engraved. To the right of the figure is the representation of a casket and a mirror while by the side of the left leg is seen a spout. The body and forehead of the soldier are found to be pierced by arrows."

    1-2 Naraciṅkaparumaṉ (Sanskrit Narasiṁhavarman) has been identified as the Pallava king Narasiṁhavarman II by Nākacāmi 1972.
