    Translation by Emmanuel Francis

    1Prosperity! Fortune!

    1Sixteenth year of Nṛpatuṅgavarman.

1-3The gold that I, Paṭāri↓1, wife (maṇavāṭṭi) [of] Harinandin, temple-man (kōyilāṉ) at Ālappākkam, have given for the sake of an unperishable lamp for the Mahādeva of Tiruppulivalam in Uttaramerucaturvedimaṅgala: thirteen kaḻañcus.

3-4This gold, I have given for burning an unperishable lamp with [its] interest (poliyālē).

4The great men of the supervision committee (vāriyapperumakkaḷ) [are] the protectors [of] this.

4-5Let the feet of those who will protect this pious act (dharma) be on my head.

    Commentary

Compare t=ta (line 1) and tta (line 5). Thus first could be encoded as Grantha.

Note rākṣippār, present habitual, and rakṣittār, past. Literally: “of those who have protected.” The honour of taking the feet on the head is placed in the future and, as the reason (the act of protecting) for conferring the honour will take place before conferring of honour, the act of protecting is in past tense.
