    Apparatus

1 śrīśrī- V • We believe that śrī is not a prefix to the name of the king, but part of the auspicious beginning.
31 Iddharmmañ ca • About the initial i, Venkayya 1911–1912 notes: "This initial vowel i is written as in the Grantha portion of the Kāśākuḍi plates. The more usual form occurs in ll. 37, 46 and 52 below."
40 1000 Venkayya 1911–1912 notes: "This symbol for one thousand occurs in one of the Nānāghāṭ inscriptions. This line has been read by Mr. Gopinatha Rao as °ṉāṛai which is probably a printer’s mistake for °ṉārai . The reading °ṉārai is unlikely as the symbol for ai, in other cases where it occurs in the inscription (ll. 6, 22 and 30), is not separated from the consonant to which it belongs. Besides the accusative °ṉārai would be wrong and would have to be corrected into °nāṉ or °ṉār."
46 Venkayya 1911–1912 notes: "This side of the stone is damaged, but no letters have suffered on that account." This comment seems in fact to apply to the back side of the slab and to ARIE 1904/A/227 = ARIE 1903/227 which it bears. Mahalingam 1988 adds: "The ll. 46 to 58 are altogether omitted in IA, xl, 104-14."
48 vāraṇāci Venkayya 1911–1912 notes: "The length of ṇā is added to the right of and goes up; compare South-Ind. Inscrs. Vol. I p. 114 and Vol. II p. 200, note 1."
55 Eṉ Venkayya 1911–1912 notes: "The vowel e is almost a semicircle with a loop at the left end."
