    8 m¿o?⟨ē⟩laṉamē{ra}laṉa IPS; mēlaṉa YS • The original incorrect spelling cannot be mera, as this inscription makes the distinction between medial ā and ra. Both IPS and YS read a piḷḷaiyār cūḻi after this final word, but there is no punctuation mark on the stone.

    1 Prosperity!

    1-3 5th year of the victorious king Tantippōttaraiyaṉ↓1

    3-6 [This is] the pond that Kalimūrkka-Iḷavaraiyaṉ, alias Vāḻi Vaṭukaṉ, a servant of the honourable king Pērati, alias Māṟappiṭuviṉār, made; [its name is] the Vāli tank.

    6-7 The feet of he who protects this pond are on my head.
