    Translation by Emmanuel Francis

    1Fortune!

    1-2Fourteenth year of Nantippōttaraicar.

2-6The pious donation (aṟam) that Antai Iḷaiyār Appananti, [of this] village, gave for the ascetics who reside [here], excluding those belonging (uṭai) to this paḷḷi: seven kaḻañcus of gold, [as] alms (piccai).

7-8With one/per kaḻañcu, one uḻakku of rice … muṉ kuṟaṭṭi is to be given/provided (vaittatu).

9-This pious donation, We, the members of the ūr, shall protect, … (oṭṭiṉōṅ).

As the sin of ruining the Kāmakkōṭṭam, … (Oṭṭiṟ = oṭṭiṉ/oṭṭil?) .

Daily, one uḻakku of rice … (muṭṭiṟ = muṭṭiṉ/muṭṭil?) .

To the king daily one kāṭi … (neṟṟaṇṭam).

13This gold is not to befall (paṭātu↓1) to the lineage of goldsmiths (ṟaṭṭārkkulam).

    Commentary

6appaṇanti. IP: “May be read as Iḷaiyār Bavanandi.” But not granted: there might have been one Appananti and one Pavananti.
